This Modern Fans quilt is full of curves, using the consistent three-fabric "fan" option in the pattern. A handful of blocks are accented with a subtle, metallic gold "x" print. My go-to is a contrasting backing, so this quilt is backed with an emerald green which wraps around the front via the binding and coordinates with the curved diamonds on the quilt top. Horizontal quilting lines contrast beautifully with the curved blocks and the white thread stands out with the solid backing.

I pieced this quilt together during my second quilt-along #modernfanssa on Instagram hosted by Suzy @ Suzy Quilts. I had the quilt handy when visiting The Grand Canyon National Park while I was completing the hand binding on vacation. The finished quilt was taken to the Alvord Desert in eastern Oregon - a windy and beautiful day - and a modern styled studio Airbnb in Salt Lake City, UT.

At my first ever Last Thursday market on Alberta Street in Portland, Oregon, this quilt stood out amongst the rest and was taken home for a lifetime of snuggles ahead.
