Pacific Sun for Elsa

This quilted wall hanging consists of two half circle designs, one a soft yellow depicting the sun and the other an alternating deep blue-and-white stripe depicting the oceans waves heading towards shore. To emphasize the design further, yellow-threaded sun rays were quilted in the top half of the quilt while echoing circles of coordinating blue thread fill the bottom half. Additional quilting fills the inside of the shapes. A deep blue binding surrounds the quilt and was hand sewn on the back. The backing is a yellow and white polka dot that matches the sun on the front. The name of the pattern, Pacific Sun, was hand embroidered on the back. A hanging sleeve was also added on the back.

Friends of mine and I held a Creative Yard Sale in 2021 - a collection of booths filled the front lawn with textiles, photography, refinished furniture, wooden record stands, tinctures, and handmade pizza. This quilt was created specifically for someone who felt a connection to the Deschutes Canyon pattern I created and wanted a matching wall hanging that depicted the Pacific Ocean, another place she and her partner vacation to. The soft colors match the softer colors of the already-made Deschutes Conyon wall hanging. I delivered these in person and they now hang together! A perfect ending.
