Schoolhouse

The Schoolhouse pattern consists entirely of flying geese blocks repeated throughout the quilt top, a new-to-me block in my quilting repertoire. The mauve-toned floral patterned fabric alternates, each square featuring two variations of petals and leaves. The navy blue back adds some definition and strength to an otherwise light and feminine quilt. A bold border accentuates the maroon flowers on the backing fabric. Light pink straight line quilting extends diagonally across the quilt, skipping the white squares which are bordered with white thread.

I loved this photo shoot location, an old schoolhouse along highway 14 in Washington state, complete with an appearance from two very curious, local chickens. Fabric was sourced from a local used art supply store, Scrap.
