Sienna Burst for McKenzie

My sister's thirtieth birthday was coming up and I wanted to make her something special and handmade - cue the pillow! This quilted pillow features a striking block designed by Meghan from Then Came June that I immediately fell in love with. The center diamond consists of four half rectangle triangles, a new-to-me quilt shape. A fun print surrounds the bright diamond, which is then surrounded by triangles of colors found in the print. A luxuriously textured gray linen makes up the background on both sides. Taking advantage of a smaller project, 1" grid quilting spreads across the entire design. An invisible zipper at the bottom secures the pillow insert inside. Using leftover fabrics from the "front" of the pillow, the "other side" consists of pieced fabrics with three bold stripes, each representing one decade, each representing more growth than the last. Who says there needs to be a "back" of a pillow when you can have each side just as worthy of being displayed outwards?
