Deschutes for Elsa

This quilt is a modern interpretation of the basalt canyon in the Lower Deschutes region in Oregon, a design created by me. An area known for world-class fly fishing, I typically tag along with my partner who fishes to escape the city and/or rain to read a book outside, hand bind a quilt, and occasionally stay to camp along the water and keep a look out for Bighorn sheep. Using fabrics from my stash, this particular wall hanging highlights the bright blue skies of Central Oregon, the variety of shades of the high desert landscape, and the differing angles of canyons as carved out by weather over time.

I was thrilled that someone felt the same excitement of the region and now has this quilt hanging alongside another Oregon-based quilt of mine.
