Stained Glass for Ann

This throw sized quilt features a minimalist design inspired by a client’s stained glass art. The bold design on the top and bottom mimics the shapes of the panes of glass in the inspiration piece - a bit of an odd angle for traditional quilt piecing, but a lovely outcome. The color palette has a feel of a modern sunset, with coral, peach, and burgundy with a pop of turquoise and a creamy white background that makes the design shine. The burgundy binding wraps all the way across the entire back where the cream colored thread from the quilting lines stands out beautifully. A radiating X quilting design highlights and adds an extra dimension the geometric shape. I love the way this quilt looks when draped over a chair or when wrapped up in on the couch, the design being exposed only when opened fully.

This quilt was a collaboration between myself and a fellow high school alum. I was thrilled to be a part of such a special Christmas gift for his wife, whose initials are hand embroidered on the back.
