Eastern Sierra for Savannah
This large throw quilt features large mountain shapes, a river flowing from the valley, and a warm sun above. The colors are inspired by an epic backpacking trip to Gwillum Lakes in Valhalla Provincial Park, BC. Large granite peaks, wildfire smoke settling in the valleys, hazy pink sunset skies, and high alpine trees speckled around pristine lakes are all depicted with each layer of this landscape. A peach binding surrounds the quilt and links colors with the floral backing fabric. Horizontal quilting lines stretch across the quilt top.
This quilt was among a set of quilt patterns that I tested for a pattern designer, checking the instructions for clarity and accuracy before being released to the public. It was hand picked from a set of quilts I brought with me to a friends' Creative Yard Sale, where we all brought our unqiuely made handmade goods. It was a beautiful compliment to a Portland gal's renovated bedroom - how special!!
