Lottie for Evelyn

This crib quilt's color palette was inspired by a photo of the recipient's nursery. Paprika, grellow, juniper, and cornflower are the colors that make up the four quilted star blocks, each turned 90* from each other. The yellow binding surrounds the quilt and was hand sewn on the back. A soft, creamy background allows the stars and binding to stand out. The nursery was decorated with various floral framed prints and had beautiful, bold floral curtains. To compliment and not conflict with the already-styled room, the backing fabric is a charming floral that softens the otherwise quite modern design, contains each of the four colors on the front, and fits the vibe of the room's other florals perfectly. A curved "S" design was chosen for the quilting, though half of the quilting goes in the opposite direction. It's a design I love in smaller quilts because while it does take much more time to complete, it offers an extra special detail that you'd never see in a non-handmade quilt.

This quilt was made especially for a friend to gift to her sister-in-law to celebrate the birth of her first child. Evelyn's name was hand embroidered onto the back corner of the quilt as soon as she was born and was shipped the following day!
