Summer Solstice for Adelaide

This crib quilt depicts mountain ranges with snowy tops and bold blues with a pop of yellow and green. A lovely tan background fabric warms the cool-toned quilt and allows the design to stand out. While the original pattern has a row of semi-circles in the middle, the quilt recipient requested triangles instead and I love that special touch - no one else has a quilt like this. The backing fabric is the same teal on the front but also features glowing moon shapes. The same deep blue fabric in the middle of the mountains was also used to bind the quilt which was hand sewn on the back using a visible "big stitch" technique with green thread. The quilt recipient's name was hand embroidered on a back corner of the quilt. 60* quilting lines create a unique grid across the quilt, perfectly aligned in the middle row of triangles and just so happened to follow the angle of the moon shapes on the back.

This quilt was a gift for a friend-of-a-friend to celebrate the extension of their little family.
