Totally Tulips

I created this quilt top as a submission to my local quilt guild's display at Powell's Books. In honor of Pride Month, our group puts on a gallery on the fourth floor during the month of June, each of us contributing a 20" x 20" rainbow quilt. This year I wanted to highlight growth, so I found a pattern I call "Bloom". Bloom where you are planted. Happiness blooms from within. Life is like a flower; it grows into something beautiful. Happiness held is the seed; happiness shared is the flower. Whatever the inspirational quilt, all humans should be able to bloom into the beautiful person they wish to be.

Each tulip consists of four different shades of one color of the rainbow and a deep green stem with two leaves. The background fabric is a creamy white with yellow little stars. A yellow and green-spotted fabric spreads across the back, while a dark gray surrounds the quilt. The binding was hand quilted and corner flaps were added on the back for easy hanging with a wooden dowel. A rainbow shaped quilting design arches across the front.
